This study, conducted by researchers at Washington State University, explores the relationship between news-seeking habits and the belief in false health information among young men. The research was conducted on 1,201 individuals, age 18–29, who were assessed for measures of news finds me (NFM) behavior, knowledge of health information, mental health, and levels of depression. The findings revealed a strong correlation between NFM behavior and the belief in incorrect health claims, particularly those involving prescription drugs and other highly addictive substances.
