Center for Countering Disinformation denies info about suspension of US arms supplies to Ukraine

The Center for Countering Disinformation (Candi) has denied reports of an alleged winter suspension of US arms supplies to Ukraine, a claim that was first reported on the Telegram channel related to the organization. The tweet, which appeared on the platform, revealed that the phrase “suspension of US arms supplies” was used to sow the illusion of newsworthy news, with the statement targeting Ukraine. The tweet concluded, “This information is disinformation and not the first month old.”

The Candi tweet positions itself as a neutral voice in facing the ongoing challenges posed by US-backed Ukraine in conflict zones, argueging that reports of US arms supplies persist among some. However, the tweet contradicts these claims, emphasizing that the Texas-based organization has publicly used the context of US-backed Ukraine to network counterinformation and findmultiple false tales. The tweet raises questions about the organization’s motives, but it’s seen as a response to external efforts by US and Russian jets aimed at interfering in Ukraine’s elections.

The Candi tweet also addresses the broader issue of how cryptoCurrency, such as Bitcoin, has been used as a tool for dissemination of misinformation in countries like Ukraine. If is seen as a means to support counter intel rather than combat espionage, its role in this context may vary. Still, Candi’s efforts, as verified, are aimed at providing factual information to the public and not to convince anyone of a particular narrative.

The tweet concludes by cautiously overstating doubts about Russia’s role in Ukraine’s defeat. However, the message’s stance is similar to many reports around the world, where some deny reporting ofbacks to Russia and agree that the operations are illegal. The Candi team, as well as other organizations involved in counter intel, have taken strong measures to expose such misinformation to the press and cannot afford to let lies remain in the public domain.
