Afterwards, they indicated their likelihood of sharing each headline. Using a sophisticated mathematical model called a hierarchical drift-diffusion model, the researchers analyzed the speed of their decisions and the amount of “evidence” they needed to make that sharing choice. The findings were revealing: when participants were angry, their decision threshold for sharing lowered dramatically.
