The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (the Academy) today announces the launch of a new online resource hub designed to counter misinformation and promote science-based nutrition. This hub features research, statements, practice trends, and action alerts, offering credible, evidence-based insights to health professionals, policymakers, and the public. The hub is intended to be a go-to resource, providing trustworthy guidance amid aorama of unqualified voices and uninformed opinions.

The Academy, with its largest membership of food and nutrition professionals (more than 112,000 members), recognizes the growing trend of online misinformation and the importance of science in shaping nutrition policies. As an organization representing the largest number of food and nutrition professionals, the Academy has a substantial responsibility to combat misinformation through facts and ensure that nutrition interest is grounded in science. The hub aims to serve as a platform for reliable information, addressing a critical turning point in American health care, during which more individuals are seeking accessible, science-backed nutrition guidance.

National Nutrition Month (NM Month), an annual initiative, begins this year with the Academy. NM Month commemorates the importance of making informed food choices and developing sound eating and physical activity habits. This month-long celebration showcases the Academy’s commitment to raising awareness about nutrition’s role in promoting healthy, sustainable lifestyles. The initiative is supported by the Academy and is spread across 313 regions across the United States, reaching nearly 109 million people.

Livleen Gill, the Academy’s 2024-2025 President, highlighted the significance of the hub in serving as a platform forraging reliable information to make informed choices about health. “This resource hub is not just a tool for dietitians; it’s a platform for anyone seeking credible, evidence-based guidance to make informed choices about their health,” said Livleen Gill. The Academy is at a turning point in American health care, with collective conversations surrounding essential topics such as nutrition. The hub aims to cut through misinformation and provide access to accessible, science-backed nutrition information.

Open to all, including those who prefer to seek this information online, the Academy has established two additional components to its initiative: the National Nutrition Month website and the Academy’s Nutrition and Eating Rightsimagines. These components aim to champion a strongly informed, registered nutritionist as the designated expert responsible for making food choices that promote health. Whether through written content, educational workshops, or interactive platforms, the Academy ensures that nutrition interest thrives.

The Academy’s website provides today’s resource hub, designed to be a one-stop resource for nutrition knowledge. It includes features such as research, statements, and best practices, accessible to health professionals, policymakers, and the public. The hub emphasizes the importance of science, promoting evidence-based nutrition as the foundation for healthier lives. By addressing misinformation and providing credible, accessible information, the Academy aims to”-weigh the importance of science in serving meaningful journalism on nutrition.”
