The northeast mississippi daily journal has expressed concerns that artificial intelligence-powered factcheck tools promote misinformation, according to a recent report.

The journal, however, has rejected such claims, stating that its focus is mainly on factual research rather than manipulation of media.

In an interview, the journal’s editor clarified that AI factcheck tools are meant to identify facts and provide reassurance, rather than providing biased narratives. "We focus on factual accuracy," the editor stated. They emphasized that these tools benefit researchers and journalists by providing impartial data.

However, critics argue that relying solely on AI factchecks can create a false impression of objectivity. The daily newspaper counters by pointing out that AI cannot eliminate bias entirely. "We strive to minimize bias, but AI-based solutions still may retain some ideological inclination," they stated. "Our associative goals are to enhance credibility."
