Gruesome Discovery in Dewas Fridge: Woman’s Body Found, Communal Claims Debunked

Dewas, Madhya Pradesh – A chilling discovery has sent shockwaves through the city of Dewas as the lifeless body of a woman was found inside a refrigerator in a locked room within a Vrindavan Dham Colony residence. The gruesome find has sparked widespread outrage and speculation, further fueled by false communal narratives circulating online. A disturbing video depicting the retrieval of the decomposed body has been widely shared, accompanied by claims that the victim, a Muslim woman named Gulnaz Bano, converted to Hinduism to marry a Hindu man named Sanjay, who subsequently murdered her. Law enforcement officials have swiftly debunked these claims, confirming that both the victim and the accused belong to the Hindu community.

The victim has been identified as Pratibha Prajapati, a woman in her 30s who had been living in the house with her 44-year-old live-in partner, Sanjay Patidar, until March 2024. Patidar, already married, was involved in a long-term relationship with Prajapati. Police investigations have also implicated Patidar’s friend, Vinod Dave, as a co-accused in the murder. The motive behind the crime remains under investigation, but police are diligently pursuing all leads.

The initial false narrative quickly spread across social media platforms, particularly on X (formerly Twitter), where a user shared the distressing video with a fabricated story. This post, viewed over 50,000 times, falsely depicted the victim as a Muslim woman who converted for marriage and was later killed by her Hindu husband. The misinformation quickly gained traction, prompting widespread sharing and commentary before being debunked by authorities.

Dewas Superintendent of Police, Puneet Gehlot, has categorically refuted the communal angle attached to the case. "The claim is completely fake," Gehlot stated emphatically. "She belonged to a Hindu family, and we have thorough knowledge of her parents and family background. They are local residents of Ujjain. There is absolutely no communal angle to this incident." This clarification comes as a crucial step in dispelling the misinformation and preventing further escalation of communal tensions.

The tragic incident has highlighted the dangers of misinformation spreading rapidly through social media, particularly in sensitive cases involving communal identities. The rapid dissemination of the false narrative underscores the need for responsible social media usage and critical evaluation of information before sharing. Authorities urge citizens to rely on verified sources and avoid propagating unconfirmed reports that can incite discord and prejudice.

The investigation into Pratibha Prajapati’s murder is ongoing, and authorities are determined to bring the perpetrators to justice. The Dewas police are working tirelessly to gather evidence, reconstruct the events leading up to the murder, and ensure a thorough and impartial investigation. The tragic loss of life serves as a sobering reminder of the importance of vigilance and community support in addressing such heinous crimes. The focus remains on seeking justice for the victim and preventing the further spread of misinformation that can exacerbate the pain and suffering of those involved.
