Congress Launches Nationwide Campaign to Counter BJP’s ‘False Propaganda’ and Defend Constitution

Jammu, January 4, 2024 – The Indian National Congress has launched a nationwide campaign, "Jai Bapu, Jai Bhim, Jai Samvidhan Abhiyan," to counter what it calls the "fake and malicious propaganda" of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its affiliates. The campaign aims to defend the Constitution and the legacy of its framers, particularly Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, while highlighting the Congress party’s contributions to India’s freedom struggle.

Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) chief, Tariq Hameed Karra, addressed the heads and representatives of the party’s frontal organizations in Jammu, urging them to actively participate in the campaign and effectively counter the BJP’s narrative. Karra accused the BJP of attacking the Constitution and its framers out of "utter frustration," claiming that the public has recognized the BJP’s "hidden agenda." He emphasized the importance of protecting the Constitution and upholding the principle of "unity in diversity" as the foundation of a strong nation. Karra alleged that the BJP and its ideological parent, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), are weakening this fundamental principle and, consequently, undermining the nation itself.

The JKPCC chief conducted a day-long interactive session with leaders of the party’s various wings, departments, and cells, gathering feedback on organizational matters and grassroots-level unit structures. He stressed the crucial role of these frontal organizations in disseminating the party’s policies and programs to the people and countering what he described as the BJP-RSS’s "false propaganda" against the stalwarts of the freedom struggle. Karra specifically emphasized the contributions of Congress leaders like Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, and Maulana Abul Kalam Azad.

Karra further accused the BJP of harboring jealousy towards Congress leaders due to their party’s alleged lack of participation in the freedom movement. He claimed that the BJP is engaged in distorting history to mislead future generations. The Congress’s "Jai Bapu, Jai Bhim, Jai Samvidhan Abhiyan" seeks to reaffirm the party’s commitment to the Constitution, the legacy of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, and the principles of inclusivity and unity. The campaign will likely focus on highlighting the historical contributions of Congress leaders to India’s independence and nation-building, while contrasting it with the BJP’s alleged attempts to rewrite history and undermine constitutional values.

The Congress party’s campaign comes at a time of heightened political discourse in India, with debates surrounding historical narratives and constitutional interpretations taking center stage. The campaign is expected to intensify the political rivalry between the Congress and the BJP, with both parties vying for public support. The Congress aims to leverage this campaign to galvanize its support base and project itself as the true guardian of the Constitution and the legacy of India’s freedom struggle.

The success of the campaign will depend on the Congress’s ability to effectively communicate its message to the masses and counter the BJP’s narrative. The campaign’s focus on the Constitution and Dr. B.R. Ambedkar is likely to resonate with marginalized communities and those who feel threatened by the BJP’s perceived majoritarian agenda. The Congress hopes to capitalize on these sentiments to regain lost ground and position itself as a viable alternative to the BJP.
