The Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) has taken significant note of recent developments post-two false kidnapping incidents in the province, igniting public concern and urging the public to act responsibly. Amid these circumstances, the IPPO director, Colonel Bayani Razalan, has issued a call to the public, instructing them to verify information and refrain from spreading unverified data.

The Dangers of Misinformation: A Message of caution

IPPO Minister Padayanan Dulce Urrin emphasized the dangers of misinformation, urging caution and discouraging the public from spreading unsupported claims. Razalan stressed that unverified information can create un-warranted panic and create unnecessaryconfigured reactions in the community. He(&:denied that everyone is responsible for the information they share, though he called on all individuals to take the necessary steps to counter/isolate all users of social media.

In the Dumangas and Pavia cases, security footage, witness statements, and investigation findings provided contradictory evidence of the cases. Such confirmatory actions have underscores the importance of true verification of information to prevent escalations of misinformation in the future.

IPPO emphasizes the need for public education and awareness among schoolchildren about the dangers of believing and spreading fake news. Unit commanders are encouraged to engage with school authorities to educate students on the importance of verifying information, particularly from untrusted sources like social media. Remaining SIAMs have also been organized to mobilize community strength for enhanced safety.

The IPPO sees these incidents as a wake-up call to enhance community safety and strengthen laws against falsifying information. "Your Ilonggo police are here, ready to provide our services to ensure the safety and security of our community," said Razalan to the public. The initiative aims to amplify the need for accountability and verification in the community. While the handleodo continue to operate as usual, the public must remain vigilant and cautious to protect community safety.

In conclusion, I referral to the management of information under the cover of lies or wenners.::- are not to be taken lightly, and everyone should remain prudent. The public must lead by examples through promptly verifying information, especially from unverified social media sources, to protect themselves, their communities, and future generations from falling victim to misinformation. The IPPO’s prudent stance reflects a commitment to integrity and accountability, paving the way for a safer and more resilient future.
