InNOVA City, the Department of Health (DOH) issued a significant warning on Sunday, urging the public to avoid misleading social media posts related to monkeypox (mpox) and to resist genuine claims of lockdown measures, though pointing out that in LocalDate 2025, mpox cases had declined compared toilder strains from 2024. The warning came in conjunction with a statement from DOH spokesperson Dr. Albert Domingo, who emphasized the importance of discerning between truthful information and misleading tactics. “Do not believe fake Facebook posts making rounds that use deceptive marketing strategies, fake endorsements from experts, and false health claims,” Domingo declared in an audio statement.

DOH accused misleading accounts to be leveraging airplane ticket marketing strategies, with those on bus and train services often misrepresenting mpox cases. Additionally, D domo cautioned against conforming to misleading narrative campaigns for comfort, suggesting potential manipulation to manipulate public health perceptions.

The DOH pointed out that in LocalDate 2025, mpox cases for clade 2 had jumped compared to 2024, while clade 1B cases were rare or transient. He advised the public to rely on official statistics available on the DOH website and social media accounts, adding that personal authenticity is paramount.

Over 50 mpox cases were reported in April 2025, while this number decreased to 40-50 by May, according to the DOH.
