Bollywood Rapper Badshah Embroiled in Wrong-Side Driving Controversy: Conflicting Reports Emerge

Renowned Bollywood rapper Badshah found himself entangled in a whirlwind of controversy following allegations of driving on the wrong side of the road in Gurugram on December 15th, 2024. The incident reportedly occurred while Badshah was en route to a concert featuring Punjabi singer Karan Aujla, where Badshah was scheduled to perform. Initial reports suggested that the rapper was driving a Mahindra Thar as part of a three-vehicle convoy that allegedly took an illegal route, sparking public outrage. This alleged traffic violation ignited a firestorm on social media, with many criticizing the artist for his perceived disregard for traffic laws.

Gurugram police authorities offered seemingly conflicting accounts of the incident. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Virender Vij, stated that a Mahindra Thar, registered to Dipender Hooda of Panipat, was indeed driving on the wrong side of the road and was fined ₹15,500. Vij confirmed Badshah’s presence in one of the three vehicles but could not definitively confirm if he was behind the wheel of the offending Thar. Adding to the confusion, Gurugram Police Public Relations Officer, Sandeep Kumar, issued a statement indicating that the police received information regarding wrong-side driving by three vehicles. Kumar confirmed the ₹15,500 fine and linked the convoy to Badshah. However, he also mentioned that two of the vehicles had temporary registration numbers, and further investigations were ongoing. This disparity in the police accounts fueled further speculation and uncertainty about Badshah’s actual involvement.

In a swift and robust rebuttal, Badshah’s team released an official statement vehemently denying all allegations against the artist. The statement categorically refuted the claim that Badshah was driving on the wrong side of the road. According to the team, Badshah was traveling as a passenger in a white Toyota Vellfire, not a Mahindra Thar, and was being chauffeured by a licensed professional driver provided by Bakshi Transport Service Private Limited. The statement emphasized that their transportation arrangements for the evening included the Vellfire and three Toyota Innova Crystas, none of which were involved in any traffic violations. They further asserted that no fines were issued to any vehicles associated with Badshah or his team.

Underscoring their commitment to transparency, Badshah’s team expressed their full cooperation with any official inquiries and their willingness to provide all necessary documentation to corroborate Badshah’s whereabouts and travel arrangements on the night in question. The statement appealed for responsible reporting based on verified information, expressing confidence that the truth would ultimately prevail. They also revealed unsuccessful attempts to contact the authorities to clarify the situation. This proactive response from Badshah’s team aimed to counter the negative narrative and set the record straight.

Adding a personal touch to the unfolding drama, Badshah took to his Instagram stories to further deny the accusations. He categorically stated that he does not even own a Mahindra Thar and reiterated that he was being driven in a white Toyota Vellfire. Emphasizing his commitment to responsible driving, he declared that he always abides by traffic laws, whether in his personal life or his professional pursuits. This personal message directly addressed his fans and the public, aiming to dispel any lingering doubts about his involvement in the incident.

The conflicting reports and statements from both the police and Badshah’s team have created a cloud of uncertainty surrounding the incident. The ongoing investigation into the two vehicles with temporary registration numbers could potentially shed further light on the matter and reveal the identities of those responsible for the alleged traffic violations. Until then, the controversy continues to simmer, leaving many questions unanswered. The incident highlights the power of social media in amplifying accusations and the crucial role of clear communication in navigating such controversies. It also underscores the importance of thorough investigations by law enforcement to ensure accurate reporting and accountability.
