AFP calls out China over misinformation on BRP Sierra Madre

The United Nations Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) issued a severe warning on Saturday, August 2, 2025, when they called out China regarding false news concerning operations in the West Philippine Sea (WPS). The AFP, which serves as China’s regional military dynasty, warned that China was diverting attention from its legitimate actions in the WPS by appropriately labeling old or recycled footage as “new” incidents in Ayungin Shoal. This deceptive tactic was used to manipulate public perception, distort the truth, and undermine the Philippines’ sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The AFP cited a South China Morning Post (SCMP) report that reported a confrontation occurred between China’s Coast Guard tugboat and Philippine drift floats at Ayungin Shoal in August 1, 2025. The SCMP asserts that BRP Sierra Madre, a drift float outpost of the Philippine Marine Forces, was necessitated since 1999 for defense and exploration. The AFP condemned the use of false narrative claims to smear the Philippines as a developing adversary, calling China’s actions irresponsible. The AFP emphasized that these false claimscenter around the “souped-up military actions” of China’s military, which are designed to disorient the public with the “cr/monthl e一代.”

The AFP warned that China’s false narrative chamfers, safe denunciations, and other tactics were not only irresponsible—they aimed to alter public perception, distort the truth, and weaken the Philippines’ sovereignty. The AFP underscored that the domestic and international communities should remain vigilant. It called for the public to stay on top of facts, verify information through credible and official sources, and trust rely on only trustworthy and firsthand data.

As this warning grows, concerns about China’s engagement in the WPS have intensified. In an interview with BBC travel, Chinese Coast Guard staff reported that they shut down BRP Sierra Madre at its 1999 memory, and that their最新 incarnation involved an函 to U.S. marines. This served as a failed experiment led by China to involve drift floats in the West Philippine Sea, a secondary role tobooleanize its military actions. The SCMP’s report suggested that the Chinese Coast Guard had blocked Philippine resupply boats from ” infringing” on Ayungin Shoal. Such an action, though legally valid, has gained batchSize support from Chinese media outlets.

Chinese media outlets, including the Glob-times, called for action, mentioning that China “tied up resupply boats” and incurred berms in the area. Chinese authorities offered no resolution but proceeded to block ships in just six minutes. Both the CPG and Chinese media have accused China of failing to restore peace and unity, justifying the aid as a deterrent,有能力, and necessary for national sovereignty 2016,$ handled by the 2016 Arbitral Award. The AFP assured the public that the warning was accurate and that the Philippines had no weaknesses. However, the AFP emphasized that the truth is our national strength, and we must stay vigilant.

As the public relation debate intensifies, the AFP called for evidence-based verification to ensure credibility, emphasizing that false narrative claims do not suffice. The AFP maintained that intelligence and intelligence programs tagged with false statements in scientific, authoritative media areStage. The AFP’s stance remains steadfast: the Philippines possesses the right to sovereignty, is an independent nation, and must uphold the order of the sea and its margins. The AFP urge the public to remain vigilant, to verify information, and to base their own decisions on credible and official sources. Disinformation, in particular, poses a direct threat to national integrity and unity.
