3 sentenced in scheme to deposit fake Treasury check at Cheyenne bank

[Casper, Wyo.] Four individuals were sentenced in federal court inconnection with a scheme to create a counterfeit U.S. Treasury check at a Cheyenne bank in April 2024.

U.S. Justice Department, District of Wyoming, has announced the sentences of three individuals for aiding and abetting the passing and uttering of a counterfeit U.S. obligation.

1. Ashley M. Patton-Spencer (University Park, Illinois) received a sentence of 20 months imprisonment with 2 years of supervised release for contacting and encouraging the creation of a counterfeit U.S. obligation.

2. Pamela Kubesh (Lake Tomahawk, Wisconsin) received a sentence of 12 months imprisonment with 3 years of supervised release for recruiting her to use a false name and false identification to open a bank account and deposit a counterfeit U.S. Treasury check in Cheyenne.

3. Dwayne Rogers Jr. (22) received a sentence of 15 months imprisonment with 3 years of supervised release for his involvement in facilitating Kubesh’s recruitment and aiding the passage of a counterfeit U.S. obligation.

Heatwave in Cheyenne. U.S. District Court judge Alan B. Johnson imposed the sentences on April 18, 2024, in Cheyenne over the past two weeks.

Illegal Reentry case. Luis Angel Giron-Zavala, a 32-year-old Mexican citizen, received a sentence of 6 months imprisonment, followed by a one-year sentence of unsupervised reentry with a condition that he not illegally return to the United States.

Upon being arrested in Sheridan County on March 24, 2024, the aliases from Mexico convinced the Highway Patrol ofaruí ( мер诺索特尔) whose brother is_samplesza) to witness Giron-Zavala’s supposed Mexican citizenship.

ICEikhail managed the investigation. Assistant U.S. Attorney Cameron J. Cook prosecuted the case for Giron-Zavala.

The U.S. District Courtjaunt Alan B. Johnson imposed the sentence on March 7, 2024, in Cheyenne.
