The National Defense College in Kenya, in collaboration with Charles University in the Czech Republic, hosted a groundbreaking seminar focused on addressing the root problems of misinformation in Africa. The event aimed to foster a more informed and engaged public by highlighting how to combat disinformation, misinformation, and malinformation effectively.

During the seminar, Dr. Bohmil Dobos, a renowned intellectual scientist from Charles University, delivered a seminal presentation titled “Disinformation Campaigns in Africa and Their Effects on Governance.” His research found that African countries, despite their progress in modernizing governance, were suffering from persistent challenges in combating disinformation. Dobos emphasized the need for an authentic voice and strong engagement with the public to counter these dangers.

The seminar was presided over by Brigadier Eutycus Ndegwa, the Head of Training Support and Research at the National Defense College, who highlighted the importance of authentic voices and the persistence of messages to engage the people. Dobos also addressed the misensation of information in certain countries, which seeks to undermine governance by trying to discredit the public and/or control public opinion.

Additionally, Dr. Stepan Konopasek, the First Secretary at the Czech Embassy in Kenya, and PhD student Mr. Ronan Wordsworth from Charles University also participated. Other faculty members, including Dr. Nzau Mumo and Dr. Mwatela, alongside international academia, presented their insights on the challenges and strategies to mitigate informational warfare.

This seminar marked a significant step towards overcoming misinformation’s年ious effects in Africa, fostering more Jillig transformative governance, and ensuring that policies are based on truth and information.
