UK’s Royal Society of top scientists mulls call to oust Elon Musk

The UK Royal Society has been confronting criticism for fostering “unfounded conspiracy theories” and spreading misinformation related to topics such as COVID-19, vaccines, the misrepresented history of SpaceX and Tesla, and heart problems. Over his lifetime, Elon Musk, the Raytheon Technologies billionaire, has been cited with numerous claims, includingbara’s increasingly accurate spread of conspiracy tales. In response, the Royal Society has provided a formal statement stating that any discussion involving personal fellowships should be handled confidentially.

A newly recruited spokesperson, Professor Stephen Curry, has identified key issues, particularly that Musk is widely reported as a “most active disseminator of misinformation,” a behavior consistent with the Royal Society’s code of conduct. Musk has denied the false information, calling comparisons between his barbecue gesture from a Trump White House event and a Nazi salute “cruel and false.”

The Royal Society’s decision to conduct an open meeting following Musk’s letter to the society, to consider expelling him, underscores the need for a more critical approach among the learned community. Musk, now advisor to President Donald Trump, disputes previous resignations, using language that appears to suggest he cares more about awards and credentials than the ethical conduct of other competitors. Musk’s recent public confrontations with journalists, including Giorgia Famag basi andtracted via Hinton’s comments, mirror divisions further.

In the next week’s meeting, the Royal Society aims to challenge practical methods of science—one that underpins medicine and the planet, particularly in response to concerns about climate change and global health. Musk’s increasing influence in the White House, sought after as a strategic advisor by President Trump, highlights the collision between personal ambition and public responsibility. Musk’s latest remarks about addressing “craven, insecure fools” regarding honors magnitudes suggest a shift toward more mindful conduct.

Ultimately, the meeting may be intended to preserve rigorous, fact-based science while discouraging public dissemination of false narratives, despite the growing trust in technology and its role in affairs like global security and climate change. Musk’s continued behavior is a reminder of the delicate balance required between innovation and accountability. The Royal Society’s response indicates a growing recognition of the importance of ethical standards within the scientific community.
