Uzodimma: Renewed Hope Ambassadors will crush opposition misinformation

At a recent two-day national mobilization retreat in Abuja, leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Renewed Hope Ambassadors (RHA) gathered with a singular, urgent mission: to bridge the vast communication gap between the federal government’s policies and the daily realities of Nigerians. Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma, serving as the Director General of the RHA, set the tone by offering a sobering diagnosis of the administration’s current political standing. He argued that the greatest threat to President Bola Tinubu’s government is not necessarily a failure of policy, but a failure of narrative. According to Uzodimma, when a government performs important work but leaves it unexplained, it creates a void that is inevitably filled by rumors, misinformation, and public cynicism. To combat this, the RHA aims to be the “last mile” communicator, ensuring that the president’s reform agenda is understood in every village, not just through abstract statistics but through meaningful, grassroots engagement.

To turn this vision into reality, the APC has devised a massive, data-driven mobilization architecture that is as ambitious as it is structured. Governor Uzodimma revealed plans to deploy a “civilian force” of over 4.4 million canvassers across the country. This strategy breaks Nigeria down into manageable segments: 36 states, 774 local government areas, over 8,000 wards, and, most importantly, all 176,846 polling units. By placing 25 canvassers at every single polling unit, the RHA intends to move beyond traditional, superficial campaigning. The goal is to create a direct line of communication where supporters can explain the difficult, yet necessary, economic reforms undertaken by the Tinubu administration without resorting to insults or arrogance. As Uzodimma noted, the intent is to “defend the president without insulting the citizens,” focusing on a disciplined, respectful dialogue that answers hard questions with patience and patriotism.

The perspective of the APC leadership was echoed by the party’s National Chairman, Nentawe Yilwatda, who emphasized that while government data may inform the mind, it is human stories that inspire the heart. He argued that statistics regarding infrastructure projects, credit rating upgrades, and multi-billion dollar foreign investments remain meaningless unless they are translated into narratives that resonate with the average Nigerian. Yilwatda pointed to tangible successes—such as the massive enrollment in the Nigerian Educational Loan Fund and the expansion of healthcare access—as the bedrock of the 2027 re-election campaign. The message is clear: President Tinubu’s administration has taken the structural risks that previous leaders avoided, and these foundations are now beginning to yield a stronger, more disciplined, and more sustainable economic environment.

Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani further framed the initiative as a “covenant” with the Nigerian people, rather than just another political campaign. Speaking on the need for a unified national structure, Sani described the retreat as a gathering of “mathematical leaders” tasked with building a bridge between government policy and public trust. He stressed that the Renewed Hope Agenda, when articulated correctly, represents a roadmap for national stability and long-term opportunity. By focusing on collaboration rather than division, he urged mobilized supporters to view their work as a living commitment to the country’s future, ensuring that the President’s vision of a one-trillion-dollar economy is anchored in the support and understanding of those it is intended to uplift.

Adding to the call for urgency, Gombe State Governor Inuwa Yahaya emphasized that Nigeria is in a “race against time” as the next general election approaches. As the Secretary of the RHA, Yahaya challenged stakeholders to proactively counter opposition narratives, replacing despair with hard facts and cynicism with evidence of progress. He insisted that the team must not allow others to define the national story, arguing that the disciplined fiscal environment currently being established is the most powerful tool they possess. For Yahaya, the duty of an ambassador is to act as a “soldier” for the truth, meeting every challenge with an organized, factual response that reflects the administration’s underlying commitment to national development.

Finally, Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Atiku Bagudu, provided a broader context, highlighting that the federal government’s reforms have notably improved revenue for states and local governments, giving them more resources to serve their constituents. He defended the president’s “tough love” approach to the economy by pointing out that even with the immense challenges of the past, the current administration is now achieving results that previous regimes could not, including the successful recovery of kidnapped citizens and the strengthening of federal ties. Bagudu’s closing sentiment was one of collective responsibility, calling for a “total-of-society” approach. By gathering feedback from the grassroots and refining their outreach, the RHA hopes to ensure that the benefits of the government’s reforms are felt by all Nigerians, ultimately cementing the case for the president’s second term.
