We’ve all likely encountered them – deepfake videos featuring celebrities or even doctors, cunningly crafted to lure people into purchasing dubious health products online. In some corners of the internet, a half-joking sentiment has emerged: “We should start using deepfakes to trick people into believing the truth.” But if we pause to seriously consider this idea, it unravels into a complex web of ethical dilemmas.
