India’s energy supply fully secure, says government; cautions against “misinformation campaign”

Let’s break down this important message from the Indian government, making it easier to understand and relate to. Imagine you’re chatting with a friend who’s a bit worried about the news, and you want to reassure them.

Paragraph 1: No Need to Panic! Your Fuel and Gas Are Safe.

“Hey everyone, it’s really important that we clear the air about something that’s been causing a bit of a stir. The folks in charge of our country’s oil and gas, the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, want you to know something very clearly: our fuel and LPG supplies are totally secure. Seriously, don’t worry! All those petrol pumps, diesel stations, and places where you get your LPG cylinders – they’ve got plenty. There’s no shortage anywhere in India. If you’ve been seeing or hearing scary stories online, please know they’re coming from a deliberately dishonest campaign designed to make you panic. It’s a coordinated effort to spread misinformation, and it’s just not true. India actually sends more fuel out to the world than it takes in, so we’re structurally set up to have enough petrol and diesel for ourselves. We’ve got this handled.”

Paragraph 2: While Others Struggle, India Stands Strong.

“Think about it this way: all 100,000-plus petrol stations across our massive country are open and pumping fuel without a single hiccup. Not one of them has been asked to limit how much you can buy. When you look at other countries around the world, many are dealing with huge price hikes, having to ration fuel, imposing rules like odd-even days for driving, or even shutting down stations completely. Some have even declared ‘National Energy Emergencies.’ But here in India? We’re nowhere near that. We don’t need any of those drastic measures. In fact, while other nations are struggling to find enough fuel, we have a robust supply. Sure, there might have been a few isolated spots where people rushed to buy fuel because of those worrying videos on social media, but even then, everyone got what they needed. Our oil companies have been working day and night, keeping their depots open to make sure supplies keep flowing. They’ve even increased the credit limit for petrol pump owners from one day to over three days, just to make sure no pump runs out because of a temporary cash flow issue. We’re proactively tackling any potential problems.”

Paragraph 3: Our Global Connections Keep the Oil Flowing.

“You might have heard about tension in places like the Strait of Hormuz, an important shipping route. But honestly, despite that, India is actually receiving more crude oil from its vast network of over 41 suppliers worldwide than we were getting before any disruptions. We’ve tapped into high volumes available in international markets, especially from the western hemisphere, and these new sources have more than covered any gaps. Every single refinery in India is running at over 100% capacity, meaning they’re working harder than ever to process crude oil into the fuel you use. And just to put your mind at ease, our Indian oil companies have already secured all the crude oil we’ll need for the next 60 days. There’s absolutely no gap in our supply chain.”

Paragraph 4: Your LPG Cylinders are Secure, and We’re Even Making More!

“Now, let’s talk about LPG – everyone’s essential cooking gas. There’s no shortage there either! Thanks to a special order from the Ministry, our domestic refineries have really stepped up their game, boosting LPG production by a massive 40%. This means we’re now producing 50,000 metric tons of LPG every single day, which covers over 60% of our daily needs. Our total daily requirement is about 80,000 metric tons, so the amount we need to import has dropped significantly to just 30,000 metric tons a day. We’re producing much more at home than we ever did before! On top of this domestic production, we’ve already secured 800,000 metric tons of LPG from countries like the United States, Russia, and Australia, and it’s all on its way to India’s 22 LPG import terminals – that’s double the number we had in 2014! This means we have a full month’s supply firmly arranged, and we’re continuously working to get even more. Our oil companies are successfully delivering over 50 lakh (5 million) cylinders every single day. While we did see a temporary spike in demand to 89 lakh cylinders because of panic ordering, it’s now back to a normal 50 lakh. We’ve also increased commercial cylinder allocations by 50% in coordination with state governments to prevent any hoarding or black-market activity. And guess what? We’re also strongly encouraging the use of Piped Natural Gas (PNG) because it’s cheaper, cleaner, and safer for households, and we’re working closely with state governments on this initiative.”

Paragraph 5: Don’t Fall for the Online Lies – It’s All a Hoax!

“The Ministry is really concerned about the deliberate spread of misleading videos and social media posts. You know, those ones that show old images of queues, or global news clips about rationing in other countries, or completely made-up stories about impending lockdowns and fuel emergencies here in India. These posts are designed to create a completely false impression of a shortage. Some of them even twist government orders, like the Natural Gas Control Order or the LPG Control Order, making them sound like emergency declarations of a crisis. But these are actually just standard administrative tools that help us prioritize supplies – a smart and preventive measure, not a sign of disaster. This misinformation is being spread by malicious individuals and amplified by people with bad intentions, and it’s causing unnecessary anxiety among the public. It’s really upsetting to see.”

Paragraph 6: Trust Official Sources and Report the Fakes.

“So, here’s the bottom line: please, please rely only on official government communications for any information about fuel and gas availability. Don’t believe everything you see or hear on social media. Spreading false information about essential goods like fuel and gas is a serious offense under the law. The government will not hesitate to take action against anyone who is deliberately trying to create panic. We’re all in this together, and by staying informed from reliable sources, we can all contribute to keeping things calm and stable. Your fuel and gas are safe, and we’re working hard to keep it that way.”
