FIR filed against ex-Delhi Minister in Hathras for spreading misinformation – ThePrint – PTIFeed

This news story from Hathras, Uttar Pradesh, describes a situation where a former Delhi minister, Rajendra Pal Gautam, finds himself in legal trouble. He’s been accused of spreading false information and trying to stir up trouble between different communities.

It all started when a video made the rounds on social media and at a press conference. This video claimed that a woman from the Kushwaha community in Hathras was molested and then tragically murdered, even though a complaint had supposedly been filed with the police. This is a serious accusation, and it’s understandable why it would cause concern and outrage. However, when the police looked into these claims, they found that none of it was true. There was no such incident in Hathras.

Circle Officer Yogendra Krishna Narayan confirmed that their investigation showed the claims were completely false. As a result, an FIR (First Information Report) has been filed against Rajendra Pal Gautam. He’s being charged with spreading misinformation, trying to disrupt peace in society, and creating animosity between different groups of people. The police are now taking further legal steps. Interestingly, the report also mentions that Rajendra Pal Gautam, who used to be an MLA from Seemapuri in Delhi, left the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and joined the Congress party earlier this year.

In simpler terms, it seems a public figure is in hot water for sharing something online that turned out to be fake, and the police believe he did it with the intention of causing division and problems in the community.
