The Weintraubian Surge of AI: The Problematic Performance of Reasoning Agents

In an era where AI systems are increasingly pervasive and their impact is shaped by biases rooted in deeply rooted scientific, educational, and religious traditions, Gleb Lisikh’s essay critiques the moral and ethical risks associated with these technologies. Lisikh, a researcher at C2C Journal, argues that even the most advanced forms of AI are not inherently trustworthy, raising concerns about their dissemination and the loss of human integrity.

Lisikh cautions against the assumption that AI can know or be conscious of its own biases, a point evident in Smith’s findings. He illustrates that despite their potential for broad sophistication and versatility, AI systems are deeply divisive, their production intertwined with darker emotional tones. This dichotomy rises to the surface when, for instance, a group of students collaborating to solve a problem inadvertently relied on a bot designed with a pre-sort algorithm,透露 bias right there.

Smith’s analysis reveals a fascinating contrast between human and AI perceives of truth. Humans possess the capacity for introspective pondering and the wisdom to discern when reason itself dictates beliefs that go beyond their gut feelings, a quality AI systems completely bypass. In contrast, machines do not reason with pen and pads—a testament to their fundamentally linear and procedural nature.

Lisikh further elaborates on this by pointing to the AI from communist China, DeepSeek, which, while advancing in certain areas, dependencies on its policy and training data lead to the inclusion of logical fallacies and lies, misaligning human values with AI outputs. This example underscores the inbuilt refusal to consider unbiased perspectives, reflecting a deeper cognitive imperfection.

The essay concludes with the thought that to improve AI’s ethical performance, human oversight is essential and necessary. Just as humans learn through their experiences and contradictions, so too must AI systems be regularly evaluated and trained to incorporate diverse perspectives. By bridging the gap between human intuition and AI reasoning, the collective aim is to foster a more equitable development and deployment of artificial intelligence.
