Sexual assault allegations at police station found false: Kurukshetra SP

The recent investigation into allegations of sexual assault at the Ladwa police station in Kurukshetra has concluded, with local authorities officially declaring the claims to be entirely unfounded. The incident, which initially caused significant public alarm, began when an individual alleged he had been subjected to severe abuse and sexual violence while in police custody on the night of June 17. Given the gravity of these accusations, the police department took immediate and transparent action: they registered a formal FIR, suspended the accused officers, and established a Special Investigation Team (SIT) led by the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) to conduct a thorough, impartial probe into the matter.

As the investigation unfolded, authorities meticulously pieced together the events of that night using forensic evidence and surveillance technology. SP Chander Mohan noted that the complainant, who had initially identified himself as a bone cancer patient, was found to have provided misleading information about his health status. Medical records clearly indicated that the individual was not suffering from cancer; rather, his physical discomfort stemmed from a prior hip replacement surgery and a chronic case of anal fissures, which explained the bleeding he had initially attributed to the alleged assaults. Furthermore, the investigation revealed that the complainant had been in an intoxicated state during his confrontation with officers at a security checkpoint, leading to his subsequent detention.

The evidence presented by the police department paints a starkly different picture than the initial narrative. CCTV footage, which monitored the lockup throughout the night, confirmed that the individual remained under constant watch, with the exception of a brief ten-minute window. While the police acknowledged that the man was indeed struck by officers, they clarified that this was a result of his aggressive use of abusive language while inebriated, rather than the horrific acts he later claimed. The physical abuse he suffered—while clearly a point of contention regarding standard police conduct—was categorically distinct from the claims of sexual violence.

To ensure the highest standard of objectivity, the investigation relied heavily on scientific evidence. A medical board examined the individual, and DNA testing was performed; both sets of results yielded no evidence of sexual assault, definitively refuting the most serious claims made against the policemen. Furthermore, the authorities conducted lie detection tests on the officers involved, all of whom passed. In a notable turn of events, the complainant himself refused to undergo a lie detection test when asked to do so by the authorities. This development significantly shifted the focus of the investigation from the credibility of the officers to the integrity of the complainant’s story.

The aftermath of this probe highlights the dangerous potential of misinformation in sensitive public matters. During the press conference, SP Chander Mohan expressed concern that the complainant may have been coached or influenced by third parties to fabricate such serious allegations. The police have signaled that they are not merely closing the case on the assault claims, but are now turning their attention toward those who may have orchestrated or encouraged the spreading of these false accusations. The department aims to take appropriate legal action against any individuals found to have manipulated the situation, emphasizing that such tactics only serve to undermine the justice system and distract from legitimate grievances.

Ultimately, this case serves as a sober reminder of the balance between public accountability and the danger of trial-by-social-media. While the police department was swift to suspend officers and launch a formal SIT investigation—demonstrating a commitment to internal oversight—they were also tasked with navigating a highly emotional and misrepresented public narrative. The findings suggest that while the physical treatment of individuals in custody remains an area requiring strict adherence to protocol, the specific allegations of sexual assault were entirely fabricated. As the legal process against the instigators of these falsehoods begins, the case underscores the necessity for thorough, evidence-based investigation before drawing conclusions in matters of public safety.
