₹500 Notes Discontinuation: A False Claim Refused by Reserve Bank**

A false claim about the discontinuation of the ₹500 currency notes in 2026,-selling on social media, has been dismissed by the Reserve Bank of India. The claim, originating from Twitter, falsely claimed that ₹500 notes will be discontinued by next year, subsequently sparking panic and uncertainty in the public. However, the Reserve Bank declined to comment on the claim, stating that the bank’s latest statements have confirmed that the ₹500 notes remain legal tender.
