Police Issue Warning Regarding Misinformation Related to Dilawarpur Protests

Nirmal SP Quells Rumours, Assures No New Cases Filed Against Protesting Farmers

Hyderabad, Telangana – Nirmal Superintendent of Police (SP), Janaki Sharmila, has issued a stern warning against the dissemination of misinformation regarding the recent farmer protests against the ethanol factory in Dilawarpur. She categorically stated that no new cases have been registered against villagers from Dilawarpur and Gundapalli, refuting false narratives circulating on social media platforms.

SP Sharmila clarified that the police action was limited to serving notices to individuals against whom cases were already registered following the initial protest incident. Crucially, she emphasized that no charges related to attempted murder have been filed against any protestor. "The messages being circulated are entirely fabricated, and the public should not give credence to these rumours," she asserted.

The SP attributed the spread of these false narratives to deliberate attempts to incite fear among the farming community and instigate law-and-order disruptions. She appealed to farmers, women, and youth to remain vigilant against such misinformation campaigns and refrain from reacting to hearsay. She urged them to rely on official communication channels for accurate information, emphasizing the importance of maintaining peace and harmony in the region.

The protests, stemming from concerns over the environmental and social impact of the proposed ethanol plant, have garnered considerable attention. Farmers fear potential depletion of water resources, air pollution, and disruption to their agricultural livelihoods. The administration, while acknowledging the concerns, has emphasized the economic benefits of the project and the government’s commitment to mitigating any adverse environmental effects.

This clarification from the SP aims to de-escalate tensions and restore calm in the affected villages. By addressing the rumours directly and reiterating the absence of new legal action, the police hope to allay fears and prevent further escalation of the situation. The SP’s appeal to the community to resist rumour-mongering underscores the critical role of accurate information in maintaining social stability.

The ongoing dialogue between the administration, the ethanol plant developers, and farmer representatives is crucial to finding a resolution that balances economic development with the legitimate concerns of the local communities. Transparent communication and a commitment to finding common ground are essential to achieving a satisfactory outcome for all stakeholders. It remains to be seen how the situation will evolve, but the SP’s intervention has, for now, quelled immediate anxieties triggered by the misleading online narratives.
