Mahmood Aslam’s Reflection on the Spread of Fake News
In an intimate interview with Hina Niazi, veteran actor Mahmood Aslam offered a poignant reflection on the phenomenon of fake news and its impact on his life. Aslam, known for his authenticity and as much as for his antics, shares that fake news about his death influenced him profoundly. "I’m not the only one they’ve spread this news about; there are other artists as well," he admitted. "I feel that playing with someone’s feelings is very wrong," he revealed.
Aslam acknowledges that his colleagues were equally affected, calling it a "wildfire" that spread immediately into the workplace. "They couldn’t believe the news, like how could this even happen? They had only met me recently, too. Oftentimes, you know what to expect when someone is unwell, but this was temperamentally just too sudden for them," he comments on how some colleagues were Dallasized, trying to understand the situation without expecting the level of rendererism as they perceived.
When asked about anotherrumour featuring him and his wife, Hina Dilpazeer, Aslam issued a firm refusal. "I don’t know what people get out of doing this. Narrating false things is already forbidden in our religion," he states. "Why must you even question such matters without thinking it through?"
In an attempt to address the lies, Aslam opted to frame a video message addressing baseless rumors. "Although I don’t mind harmless pranks, this is a step too far. Especially since it could prove detrimental for certain people in my family," he declares. He reflects on his brother, who is a heart patient, expressing how deeply the rumors made him lose control of his words.
Aslam’s story serves as a poignant reminder of the fragility of human emotions and the power of information. For those spreading baseless rumors, the weight of uncertainty and danger can be too heavy for even the most seasoned actors and citizens.
