False claims about Ethiopia’s pursuit of Red Sea access add to tensions with Eritrea

The Horn of Africa has been marked by intense tensions since the Tigray war ended in 2022, with Ethiopia and Eritrea enduring a relatively polarized political landscape. Ethiopia, an oil-majority nation, is pursuing a quest to access the Red Sea, a strategicenenom in the region, which it had previously achieved through the Eritrean port of Assab.
