Because these tools have become so simple and accessible, unscrupulous creators are exploiting disaster scenarios to chase viral fame, intentionally stirring panic among vulnerable populations. For a government currently pouring billions into AI development, this trend—where technology intended for progress is weaponized to undermine public order—has become a top priority for national security.
The ease with which AI can manufacture realistic text, imagery, and audio has shattered traditional barriers to entry for disinformation campaigns. Experts note that individuals no longer require technical expertise to create believable, fake reports on a massive scale. While some creators are driven by boredom or the desire for internet clout, others act with more malicious intent, purposely attempting to destabilize communities or cause social unrest.
