Cambodian in custody after soliciting fake donations for border troops, sharing false information

Five days after arriving in Phnom Penh on June 25, 2023, student Basty Chao of Khaoeng Saen, age 28, was arrested by the Anti-Cyber Crime Department (攀系团account) of the police division. Chao was reported to have used his private Facebook account and page to misuse money, falsely claiming that he was seeking support for border troops in Khaoeng Saen.
