Imagine a scene that could be ripped straight from a gripping crime drama, but it’s playing out in real life in Karachi. Anmol Pinky, a name now echoing with controversy, is at the heart of it all. The authorities, particularly the police, are trying to paint her as a major drug baroness, a kingpin in a dangerous underworld. On a recent Saturday, she was brought before several courts, a common enough procedure for someone accused of serious crimes. But Pinky isn’t just any suspect; she’s fighting back, and her resistance is creating a spectacle, turning routine legal proceedings into a dramatic confrontation.

The tension in the courtroom was palpable. As Pinky was escorted by policewomen, her face covered by a chador—a traditional veil—she wasn’t about to be muzzled. In a raw display of defiance, she tore off the covering, her voice cutting through the hushed courtroom. Her accusation was startling: she claimed she hadn’t been arrested in Karachi on May 12th as the police alleged, but rather, she’d been picked up 22 days earlier in Lahore. This wasn’t just a simple dispute about dates and locations; Pinky dropped a bombshell, asserting that she was being pressured to make “false statements involving Banigala.” For anyone following Pakistani politics, Banigala is instantly recognizable as the residence of former Prime Minister Imran Khan. The implication was clear and explosive: she was being asked to implicate powerful figures, a claim that immediately transformed her case from a drug bust into something potentially much larger and politically charged. The police, of course, tried to silence her, to keep her face covered, but the damage was done. Her dramatic outburst, her plea that “they forced me to give false statements to say that I used to deliver items to a man in Banigala,” resonated beyond the courtroom walls.

When a journalist later managed to ask her if she had anything else to share, her response was both poetic and ominous. “Hum to doobay hain sanam….in sab ko lai doobay gain [we are drowning my love, and we will drag all of them down with us too],” she declared. This wasn’t just a suspect defending herself; it was a woman on the edge, hinting at a wider network, a deeper conspiracy that she was prepared to expose. This statement transformed her from a simple criminal suspect into a figure hinting at a grand unraveling, suggesting that if she goes down, she won’t be going down alone.

The legal labyrinth for Pinky is complex and sprawling. On that Saturday, she was brought before judicial magistrates in three different districts—South, Central, and Malir—facing charges in over 15 cases. The police were desperate for her custody, seeking more time to investigate what they clearly believe is a vast criminal enterprise. In the Central District, Judicial Magistrate Abdul Sattar granted a six-day physical remand in a case under the Sindh Control of Narcotic Substances Act. Pinky complained of mistreatment, but the magistrate noted no visible marks of violence. Still, he took her allegations seriously enough to order a medical examination by a female medico-legal officer, ensuring that her claims of abuse wouldn’t be ignored. This wasn’t just about the law; it was about the human element, ensuring that even a suspected criminal’s rights are acknowledged in the face of accusations.

One of the more heinous charges against Pinky stems from a murder case lodged at the Baghdadi police station. Judicial Magistrate Murtaza granted a two-day physical remand, indicating the gravity of the accusations. Pinky is accused of running an elaborate network, involving everyone from delivery riders to manufacturers and managers. The victim in this particular case reportedly died due to narcotics, allegedly from Pinky’s “brand.” Her lawyer, however, fiercely contested these claims, suggesting that a sticker with her brand name was manipulated or pasted onto the drug jar found with the deceased. He also introduced a personal dimension, asserting that Pinky’s ex-husband, Rana Nasir, was trying to implicate her due to their separation. This added a layer of personal vendetta and betrayal to an already complex legal battle, suggesting that her legal troubles might be intertwined with personal animosities.

As the legal proceedings continued, Pinky remained steadfast in her claims of innocence and mistreatment. Before the judicial magistrate (South), she again passionately stated that she was brought to Karachi after being arrested in Lahore 22 days prior and had been subjected to torture. She vehemently called the cases against her “false.” Faced with such a strong and consistent denial, the judge assured her that “no one could harass” her in court and that both her and her lawyer’s arguments would be fully heard. This assurance offered a glimmer of hope for a fair hearing amidst the chaos. Beyond these immediate remands, Pinky was also sent to jail on judicial remand for over a dozen other cases, all related to narcotics, scattered across various police stations. It appears the police are determined to keep her in custody, using every legal avenue available to them, hinting at the scale of the alleged criminal enterprise they believe she controls. As Senior IO Darakhshan Maqbool stated, they need her custody to “nab other suspects who were on the run,” suggesting that Pinky is considered a key figure in a much larger operation, a linchpin they hope will lead them to others. Her journey through the courts is far from over, a long and arduous process that will continue to challenge the legal system and captivate public attention, raising questions not just about crime, but about justice, power, and the human drama unfolding within Pakistan’s legal landscape.
