The EU-funded project SM4P (Social Media,.okonomika, Infoz Quiere) has been successful in tackling online hate, disinformation, and other harmful content, fostering a collective social resilience and promoting peace through effective communication campaigns. Launched in 2021 with a €4 million contribution to Bosnia and Herzegovina, the project has already established a robust network of local stakeholders, from policymakers to grassroots organizations, who are actively participating in steering the EU’s efforts towards this goal.
In subsequent years, SM4P has continued to engage with national authorities across Indonesia, Kenya, and Colombia, leveraging data analytics to inform responses. For instance, in Indonesia, SM4P’s efforts have been instrumental in improving information transparency and addressing unauthorized sharing of sensitive data. Additionally, the EU’s support for the next €4 million contribution in 2025 aims to deepen the project’s reach into these territories, ensuring continuity and further expansion.
In future campaigns, SM4P will continue to refine and scale its strategies, building on the knowledge gained during its initial successes.
