Reaction against the Disinformation Campaign by Vox Kosova Against KALLXO.com

The editorial team at KALLXO.com is currently navigating a challenging period marked by a coordinated, defamatory campaign aimed at undermining our professional integrity. We find ourselves in the crosshairs of various individuals, politicians, and business entities who appear to be using these attacks as a form of retaliation for our investigative reporting. This systematic attempt to silence our work reached a new peak on July 29, 2026, when the Facebook page “Vox Kosova”—a platform already known for its history of legal troubles regarding defamation—launched a baseless attack against us. They claimed, without evidence, that KALLXO.com had pulled information from Russian media sources to construct a narrative regarding the “Shenzhen model” in Washington-based negotiations.

This campaign by Vox Kosova is not merely a difference of opinion; it is an active effort to mislead the public. The core of their attack rests on a manipulative interpretation of a statement by American diplomat Richard Grenell. Vox argues that Grenell never referred to a “Shenzhen” model, but rather a “Mini-Schengen” model, accusing us of fabrication. However, this is a clear case of historical revisionism. Grenell only offered this clarification in September 2020. Up until that point, the term “Shenzhen” was the standard reference used across the entire international and local media landscape, including by those who now claim otherwise. We never saw any official correction from the diplomat at the time, and several credible American media outlets continue to cite the original terminology to this day.

To understand the context of our reporting, one must look at the timeline of events. On June 20, 2020, Richard Grenell himself explicitly mentioned the Shenzhen model during an interview with the American outlet Newsmax. That single interview triggered a massive, public discourse throughout Kosovo regarding what such an economic zone might look like. Our editorial team did not conjure this concept from thin air; we were reporting on a widely discussed policy idea that was, at the time, a legitimate topic of concern and debate. To claim that we imported this idea from Russian propaganda is a willful ignorance of the actual, documented public record of that summer.

The evidence that the “Shenzhen” concept was a central part of the national conversation is overwhelming. Numerous reputable media outlets across the region—including Klan Kosova, ABC News, Top Channel, Koha.net, and Telegrafi—all published reports during that same period discussing the Shenzhen model in relation to the Washington Agreement. Even former President Hashim Thaçi confirmed that this proposal was on the negotiating table, publicly acknowledging that the idea was being considered. By ignoring this vast archive of established journalistic work, Vox Kosova is attempting to rewrite history to portray our legitimate analytical coverage as something sinister or foreign-influenced.

It is vital for our readers to understand the intent behind our original reporting. KALLXO.com never presented the Shenzhen model as an inevitable or finalized outcome; rather, our article served as a critical examination of the concept. We took the time to explain how such a model functioned, what it entailed, and, crucially, we provided arguments explaining why such a model might not be beneficial for the interests of Kosovo. Our role as journalists is to analyze, scrutinize, and offer perspective on public policy. To frame an analytical piece as “defamatory” or “foreign-aligned” simply because it highlights the potential risks of a proposed deal is a dangerous precedent that threatens the freedom of the press.

In response to these dishonest attacks, we have sent a formal letter to the editorial team at Vox Kosova demanding an immediate correction of their content. However, we know that such platforms often thrive on controversy rather than accuracy. Therefore, KALLXO.com is committed to pursuing all necessary legal remedies to defend our reputation. We will not be intimidated by hate speech, disinformation, or the coordinated attempts of those who fear independent scrutiny. Our commitment remains to the truth and to the public’s right to receive objective, well-researched information, regardless of the pressure applied by those who wish to keep us quiet.
