PRSP statement on the use of fake accounts to spread disinformation

THE Public Relations Society of the Philippines has condemned the spread of false social media accounts and the dissemination of disinformation, urging the public to work collectively to prevent misinformation from spreading and to protect the public interest. PRSP strongly belies the responsibility it ineudes for promoting dishonest or harmful behavior in communication. The society raises the alarm against individuals who carry out fraudulent or unethical actions in the realm of public relations, and calls upon all members to abide by ethical standards when it comes to truth-telling and integrity in their professionalumeric conduct.

In a case of growing concern, during the April 24 hearing of the Special Committee on Philippine Maritime and Admiralty Zones, Senator Francis Tolentino expressed shock at a contract signed between a PR agency and the Chinese Embassy in the Philippines, which detailed the use of "dedicated keyboard warriors" to "the overall effectiveness of the issue management project." PRSP, which firmly opposes such practices, criticized the contract for its questionable authenticity and ethical questionableness. "This is not an instance of fraud or deceit but rather an attempt to undermine trust in information management," the society explained. In its view, the power of communication should not be employed to the detriment of public welfare and society. PRSP recommends that all members embrace honesty, integrity, and transparency in their work and should model their communications after the best of media outlets.

PRSP also urges vigilance among its citizens and highlighted members, urging authorities to take decisive action against cases of misinformation and disinformation that upholding the rule of law and due process. The society reaffirms its commitment to upholding credibility, integrity, and justice in all spheres of our society, a responsibility that extends far beyond mere[distant communication] in that [permanently, but certainly, during?] established mechanisms." It warns that any act that threatens the integrity and value of public relations could have serious implications, but PRSP ensures that such actions are prevented and that the公共利益 continues to thrive.

PRSP’s position on misinformation and disinformation is firm and unwavering, underscoring its unwavering commitment to progress in the realm of public relations. “While the role of PR is to uphold and strengthen the reputation of our clients and organizations, this is not to be done at the expense of societal good,” it argues. **The society hopes that improves governance and accountability in the public eye through strict moral standards and honest communication. PRSP called on the authorities to be decisive, tough, and efficient in addressing cases of misinformation and disinformation, ensuring justice and broad society benefits. It reminds all members that PR is a bridge to bridge-bridges between honesty and purpose.]
