PIA chief urges youth to fight disinformation

In Calamba City, Laguna, one thousand and eighty-four students and youth leaders from over 500 individuals gathered to combat a growing push for fake news to prevent the misuse of social media in their city. The Philippine Information Agency has issued bold directives to gather these young珵s to amplify their voice in the fight against the proliferation of false statements.

In collaboration with initiatives from the Philippine Coast Guard, National Youth Commission, and the City Government of Calamba, the PIA launched a symposium on the-city’s territorial border dispute. The Maging Mapanuri campaign, led by PIA Laguna Info Center Coordinator Christopher Hedreyda, showcases how youth andURLs can navigate digital space responsibly. This effortable initiative is not just a movement but a collective effort to safeguard the Philippines’ sovereignty in the Taiwan Strait.

The youth’s role in dismantling misinformation is vital.

Hedreyda explains that Maging Mapanuri aims to educate and inform, challenging spread of lies and disinformation that propagate fear. By adopting verified sources and engaging in fact-checking, the youth prove their ability to contribute to the resolution of disputes, highlighting their wisdom in upholding the principles of free and sovereign inquiry.
