How did Ocampo build a disinformation campaign against Baku?

Imagine a seasoned prosecutor, known for his work on the international stage, caught on camera discussing various schemes, not in a courtroom setting, but in what appear to be candid conversations. This is essentially what we’re witnessing with Luis Moreno Ocampo, the former Chief Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court. Recent video recordings published by Minval Politika have pulled back the curtain, revealing a network of influence that seems less about noble principles and more about calculated pressure campaigns. The core of these revelations suggests a coordinated effort, involving the Armenian lobby, certain European politicians, and a flow of money connected to wealthy Russian-Armenian business circles. It paints a picture where the “values” and “principles” often touted in international discourse are, in fact, masks for a well-oiled political machine designed to exert pressure, particularly against Azerbaijan.

Ocampo himself, in these recordings, doesn’t shy away from detailing his connections within the European Parliament, even dropping names like Josep Borrell, the EU’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs. He openly describes how decisions within the EU can be influenced, and even how the powerful European Commission might be swayed. This isn’t just about political connections; the financial underpinnings are also laid bare. Initially, funds were reportedly sourced from within the Armenian community, but later, a group of influential sponsors, primarily wealthy individuals from the Russian diaspora, joined in. Among those reportedly involved are prominent figures such as Samvel Karapetyan and Ruben Vardanyan. The key to their operation, as described, is a cloak of anonymity and a reliance on closed, discreet schemes, making it difficult to trace the origins and intentions behind these financial flows. The implications are significant, suggesting a foreign-funded influence campaign targeting European policy.

Beyond the external pressure, some of these discussions even touch upon internal affairs within Armenia, hinting at scenarios for “regime change.” This elevates the situation from mere lobbying to a complex, multi-layered operation encompassing media manipulation, political maneuvering, and financial leverage – all seemingly orchestrated against Baku and, by extension, against regional stability. It’s a sobering thought that such a sophisticated apparatus could be at play, working to shape narratives and influence outcomes on a global scale. The sheer scope of this alleged operation, from influencing international bodies to potentially destabilizing a nation, raises serious questions about ethical conduct and the integrity of international relations.

In light of these revelations, Minval Politika sent formal inquiries to various European institutions, including the European Parliament, seeking clarification on Ocampo’s purported connections and to ascertain if any investigations were underway regarding potential lobbying, conflicts of interest, or corruption risks highlighted in the videos. Despite the gravity of the accusations, a considerable amount of time has passed without any official response. This “demonstrative silence,” as Minval Politika interprets it, is telling. It suggests that while the European brass might understand the full implications of these claims, they are choosing to remain tight-lipped. This lack of comment from institutions that are usually quick to address any information concerning Azerbaijan is particularly noteworthy, leading to the impression that there’s a reluctance to engage with a potentially embarrassing truth. Minval Politika has vowed to resubmit their inquiries, determined to either elicit an official statement or further expose what they perceive as a deliberate avoidance of accountability.

Adding a fresh layer to this ongoing saga, Minval Politika has recently unveiled new video footage further implicating Ocampo. In these latest clips, Ocampo seemingly takes his activities to a new dimension: artificial intelligence. He talks openly about building a platform that would leverage AI for his “Armenian project,” describing it as a “pilot project” and working with the University of São Paulo’s Physics department. He outlines how he’s collaborating with physicists, using modern physics and AI to model “global order and global disorder.” Although initially focusing broadly, he narrows the scope to “genocide” and then to Nagorno-Karabakh, citing his extensive information on the topic. Ocampo views this as an “academic product” from which he must extract “maximum benefit,” aiming to build a transnational company to transform this “information” into a tool for influencing politicians, decision-makers, and public opinion through mainstream and social media, as well as academic circles.

This new revelation suggests a deliberate attempt to industrialize and legitimize political and informational attacks, cloaking them in a “scientific” guise and leveraging cutting-edge technology for widespread impact. Ocampo’s statements imply that this AI-driven system is not a theoretical exercise but a concrete mechanism designed to direct anti-Azerbaijan campaigns related to the Karabakh issue. The goal appears to be to shape the agenda and solidify certain narratives as “expert opinion” for decision-makers, international bodies, and academic circles. Essentially, what’s being described is a large-scale, technologically advanced influence machine, potentially utilizing deepfakes and other manipulative technologies, against Baku. This goes beyond traditional lobbying; it’s a hybrid operation openly detailing how pressure campaigns against sovereign states can be constructed and scaled, from social media to the highest offices in Europe, fundamentally altering the landscape of international political engagement.
