The European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) has organized a fourth event titled "CITIZENS CAN DEFEAT DISINFORMATION ." to tackle disinformation, a growing societal challenge. Utilizing cutting-edge technologies for profit, disinformation has become a pervasive issue, exacerbating gaps in democracy and public discourse. AI has increasingly been employed by institutions and nations to spread disinformation horizontally, while also exacerbating internal divisions within countries, further strained by vertical spread. The EESC emphasizes that disinformation poses a significant threat to democracy and.tick upon public and media engagement, which has been criticized for misaligning with political priorities. In response, the organization and its partners are pioneering public engagement initiatives, aiming to empower citizens to counter disinformation.

The series aims to energize civil society, fostering transparent discussions on disinformation and safeguarding democratic processes. Organized in epidemiology and spirituality, the event will feature representatives from Portugal’s^{EEST}, EU institutions, and civil society organizations._separatorij. Joint with other regions, the conference seeks to address disinformation’s dual nature—horizontal traversal within/external伸展, requiring citizen involvement. The event will attract journalists, social media experts, influencers, academia, students, and the general public, offering a comprehensive platform to address disinformation.
