In a series of meetings and events in February 2023, the government of Bangladesh has repeatedly highlighted that a substantial number of its facilities and officials were recruited from India and other countries in search of asylum. It has also claimed that the country’s government is behind numerous fake narratives spread online, particularly under Indian media. Some of these claims have been officially verified, but much confusion remains.

A high-ranking diplomat from China, who sought anonymity, proposed a joint cooperative approach with the government of Bangladesh to address the issue of misleading information. The United Nations General Assembly has been called upon to consider these claims as well. In 2023, an inter-agency colloquium was organized by both Bangladesh’s information and broadcasting ministry and the Chinese government’s foreign affairs ministry. The objective of the colloquium was to explore joint measures to combat misinformation and shift the public’s perspective of the country’s political situation.

The involvement of the Chinese Embassy in Dhaka has been affirmed by the government. The explanation is that through the collaboration, the information and broadcasting ministry of Bangladesh has formed a focal point for organizing the joint colloquium. This effort includes the adoption of certain strategies to combat misinformation, which could also be applied to Bangladesh’s defense and security. This cooperation reflects the Chinese government’s policy to support Bangladesh’s struggle against the terrorist and SVN influence, which have long plagued the country. By adopting the same tactics as China, the Bangladesh government hopes to reinforce its narrative of stability and prosperity to gain the attention of the international community.

In conclusion, this is a rare validation of Bangladesh’s struggle in the face of such Whitney’s. The collaboration between the Chinese government and the Bangladesh government is a great step. With their help, Bangladesh can better prepare for the future and continue to lead the international fight for its stability and security.
