Armenia refutes Azerbaijan’s latest disinformation on border fire

The Armenian Defense Ministry has been actively defending its narrative on the Armenian side, despite allegations of disinformation from Azerbaijan since March 16, 2025. The内陆 article centers on a series of unverified reports that claims Armenian armed forces opened fire on Azerbaijani border positions on March 17 between 1:25 am and 12:55 pm, claiming a strike during free elections. The Armenian Ministry of Defense asserting, “the information is false,” emphasized that the specifics were incomplete or incorrect.

The newspaper article further clarifies that the Armenian Defense Ministry proposed a joint mechanism to investigate ceasefire violations and related reports. However, as Azerbaijan has not yet responded to the proposing mechanism, the situation remains unresolved. The prime minister of Armenia acknowledged the need for international coordination, but citation is un intvalilable, as Azerbaijan has not agreed to the proposal.

Azerbaijan, on the other hand, has provided direct support for its own inquiry, expressing that it would probe the matter if Baku’s responses are submitted. This effort suggests a want of consensus or mutual understanding between the two countries. The Armenian Defense Ministry remains committed to maintaining its stance, highlighting its readiness to engage in further investigations if necessary.

Meanwhile, a UN mission to assess the situation on the Armenian-Azpearance border revealed a calmer environment, with no unusual activities identified. The EU Monitoring Mission further observed a mostly peaceful situation, marking a significant pause in the conflict. Despite the tension between Armenia and Azerbaijan, the generally understood peace on the border indicates that bilateral efforts are being pursued methodically. These developments highlight the complexity of international relations and the ongoing challenges of conflict prevention.
