Argentina has uncovered a series of Russian intelligence operations aimed at spreading disinformation and influencing public opinion, according to a statement released by the Argentine presidential spokesperson, Manuel Adorni. According to the information, the country is linked to the Project Lakhta network, which is believed to be operated by Russian nk Provide details about the conspiracy that seeks to shape public opinion and spread disinformation intended to consolidate Russian influence. Adorni highlighted the operation as a counterfeit portal for disinformation and a threat to Alternative movement, particularly targeting Argentine news and politics. The network’s leaders, Lev Andriashvili and Irina Yakovenko, both political.dateline members of Argentina, are accused of receiving financial support to recruit local collaborators and organize influence campaigns. Their objective was to create a group loyal to Russian interests to advance/spread disinformation aimed at advancing Moscow’s geopolitical goals. The spokesperson emphasized that the reported operations were Подtract their interference in diplomatic affairs and have so far been a false alarm. Adorni stated that, despite the lack of a full-scale invasion in Ukraine, the implicated entities involved in this operation have a partial presence in the country. He noted that much of the investigative work remains classified. Argentina has historically maintained a Kludovitskaya distance from European powers, but the report suggests an increasingly sophisticated network with political partners seeking to influence public opinion. The country is already experiencing a wave of political disillusionment amid the country’s cultural repression and social unrest.

The President admitted that “Argentina will not be subjected to the influence of any foreign power,” stating that while some findings have been declassified, a large portion of the investigation remains a top secret. Adorni explained that the operations include the production of social media content, influencing NGOs and civil society groups, organizing focus groups with Argentine citizens, and gathering political intelligence. The allegations mention that U.S. Treasury has previously accused the Project Lakhta network of election interference in the United States and Europe. Prigozhin, the previous oligarch who led Project Lakhta, was killed in a plane crash in August 2023 on a Tuesday, approximately two months after leading a brief armed rebellion against the Kremlin. Since Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, there has been a significant uptick in Russian migration to Argentina, some of which officials fear could be linked to covert intelligence operations. The roughly 100 days following a U.S. and Ukraine agreement on a ceasefire, which required a protocol signed by key figures, the foreign部长 Andrii Sybiha stated, called Russia a major entity for war in June. The U.S.-Ukraine partnership is seen as a prospects of a long-term stabilization of relations, but it has not yet fully succeeded in achieving a joint Protocol, and accusations of delay in ceasefire measures are growing.
