Gambian Ministry of Information Unveils Comprehensive Strategy to Combat Disinformation and Strengthen Public Communication
The Gambian Ministry of Information has embarked on a multi-pronged initiative to tackle the pervasive issue of disinformation and enhance government communication strategies. Information Minister Dr. Lamin Ceesay outlined the ministry’s plans during a monthly press conference, emphasizing the detrimental impact of disinformation on social cohesion and the urgent need for a collaborative approach to address it. Central to this strategy is the development of non-legislative documents designed to foster a collective commitment among media practitioners, civil society organizations, and other stakeholders to combat the spread of false information. A key component of the ministry’s strategy is the establishment of a social media observatory.
