Malaysia Launches AI-Powered Chatbot to Combat the Spread of Fake News

The Ministry of Communications recently unveiled the Sebenarnya.my Chatbot, affectionately known as AIFA (Artificial Intelligence Fact-check Assistant), a sophisticated tool designed to empower citizens to verify the authenticity of information encountered online. As of January 27th of this year, the Commission had already requested the removal of 1,575 pieces of fraudulent content, with 1,233 subsequently taken down by the relevant platforms. This figure pales in comparison to the previous year, where a staggering 19,546 pieces of fraudulent content were flagged for removal, resulting in the removal of 17,245 pieces.
